# API v1 overview

> Use the levios REST API v1 to manage Instagram automations, contacts, contact tags, and account metrics with a single API key and JSON payloads.

API v1 exposes JSON endpoints under this base path:

```text theme={null}
https://levios.app/api/v1
```

Use the API to:

* List the Instagram accounts available to your API key.
* List the posts and stories of one account to bind a trigger to a publication.
* Create, configure, read, activate, pause, and delete automations.
* Read complete contact records and filter them by Instagram username.
* Create contact tags and manage the tags assigned to a contact.
* Read account metrics and metrics for one automation.

## Request basics

* Send a levios API key as a Bearer credential. API v1 rejects OAuth access
  tokens and browser sessions.
* Send JSON for endpoints that accept a request body.
* Read `X-Correlation-ID` from each response when you need to trace a request.
* Use `expected_updated_at` where required to prevent overwriting a newer
  automation change.
* Follow the endpoint reference for every accepted field, enum, default, and
  response.

The [OpenAPI document](/openapi/v1.json) comes from the schemas that validate
the live API. The complete typed automation `configuration`, including every
trigger, opening message, and follow-up action, is defined in that document.
Read it directly when you need a field, an enum, or a bound that the endpoint
reference does not spell out.

## Before you integrate

* [Authentication](/guides/authentication) covers API keys, scopes, and account
  access.
* [Pagination](/guides/pagination) covers `cursor`, `limit`, and
  `next_cursor`.
* [Errors](/guides/errors) covers the shared JSON error envelope.
* [Rate limits](/guides/rate-limits) covers `429` and `Retry-After`.

## Carousel messages

Use [Send carousel messages](/guides/carousels) for image cards, URL buttons,
a complete request, and a separate following message.
